A Knight in guard mode is a fortress, and combined with Martial Arts and Thoroughbred Mounts it's effectively a t3.5. It's an incredibly resilient unit with mobility and power to match. While it's never a good idea to actually let that build slowly having one less turn means +50g for a human when he rushes it, which can be done on the first turn before you even clear any nodes or pick up any treasure.įinally the Knight is one of best racial t3's there is.

The +5 production bonus you get, while only useful at the beginning of the game often means you'll be producing things 1 turn faster than others. Your units have the base line stats across the board which means you're never really at a real disadvantage. Not to mention if they hit elite you have a full blown adult Kraken on your hands which is a terror in the water.Īs for being a human, while you have no real strengths, you also have no real weakness. Summon Baby Kraken, while not great alone, makes a decent interceptor for embarked ships and since they can be massed quite easily gives you a tiny edge on the water. Cleverly placed cities are no more troublesome than casting the spell is seeing as a peninsula offers no advantage when the water is frozen and the city is surrounded anyways. Rivers mean nothing to you and small lakes may as well not exist. This spell has saved me so many embarkations it's not even funny. Water on the other had gives you the incredible ability to freeze a large hunk of water, instantly creating a land bridge for your units to cross. Plus Skin of Oil and Fireball always makes an excellent combat combo. My main armies typically have a secondary stack close by consisting of nothing but Irregulars and Hellhounds. Additional it makes Monster Hunters fantastic units able to keep up with cavalry, get into flanking positions with extreme ease and arguably one of the better scouts in the game seeing as they're decent units already just with added scouting capabilities.įire gives the Warlord the ability to supplement his armies with Hellhound summons and seeing as you don't have a whole lot of things to spend you mana on in the first place having a summon spell is an excellent way to spend mana. Human Warlord with Fire, Water and Explorer.Įxplorer gives the Warlord, late, but decent scouts by way of raise militia.
